Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has been our last stop before crossing the Atlantic. In the port, Monday 17 in the evening, the puppeteer Pepe Luna and Jose Talavera were waiting for us. We would like to thank them for the patience and involvement with the project.
Next morning we received the visit of the president of the Authorities of Las Palmas Port, José Miguel Pintado, and of the press. A few hours later, the city’s councillor of tourism, Pablo Barbero, received us in his office and organized for us a guided visit to the historical centre of Las Palmas. A day after, Mundo Pura Vida and a team of Telenoticas 1 of TV Canarias (minute 39) came aboard to know more about the project.
But we had time for playing our show as well! The first one, in the pedestrian street Triana! The second one, in the Hospital Universitario Insular Materno-Infantil. And the last one, in the Muelle Deportivo with the coordination of the Port Authorites, that has had the courtesy of offering us a free week in the port (thank you!).
These days we made some new friends: Edwin and Marjo, from Ocean Conservation, explained us their environmental project that will bring them soon to Cape Vert and helped us to ensure that the ship is ready to leave! We also have to speak about Javier and Marta, from Correos de la Mar, that donated clothes, school material and… puppets for Haiti. We can’t forget Remy, that offered us two booms and a winch! And, finally, thanks to Néstor and Juan, as well as to other fishermen, for the sails and the ropes that gave us.
Loaded with fresh products and having done the full of water and of gasoil, everything is ready for crossing the Atlantic! Next stop: Guadeloupe island!
